On the down side, I had my first spike above the average weight line in this period, but I think that was just a fluke as I believe I had forgotten to weigh myself before eating breakfast.
It seems I forgot to do a post for last week, so I'm going to be doing a combined post. It's been a bit of a rocky road over the past few weeks due to stress and/or lack of time to exercise. I managed to get off my long standing plateau of just above 250 and now I've traded that in for one just below 250. But I haven't really been exercising as much as I would like to be as of late. Hopefully that will change once school is over and I have some more free time to play with. At least I'm maintaining which is a good thing in my book.
The warmer weather recently has highlighted that I need to go shopping for a couple pairs of shorts. I seem to only have size 42 and size 38, one of which is way too big for me and the other is a little tight right now. I must have either tossed the 40s or my swing in weight totally skipped a size in between a summer.
And because of the warmer weather, I've been walking outside for the past couple of weeks when I have the time to go out and walk. Partially to help build up some endurance for the trip out to Washington DC coming up in a little more than month and partially to get some more different and/or outdoor type activities going to keep things interesting.
This friday though I kinda walked a little longer than I had meant to. There's a couple of different routes I can take around where I live. I usually just do an out and back kinda thing that works out to be about 3 miles total. Friday though I decided to try walking around the loop, as there's a couple of streets that form kinda a ring. I'm in a pretty rural area, so this isn't a small loop. Roughly five to five and a half miles to be exact. So an hour and twenty minutes later, I had almost finished. I stopped into my parents house for some water because I didn't have any cold water at my place and they're just down the road from me and practically collapsed on the living room floor. That's not something I really care to do again in the near future. Maybe once I build up my endurance a bit...
New shoes would be helpful too. My current shoes are a little on the old side and really aren't terribly supportive anymore. So I just purchased a new pair of New Balance MW792's to fix that problem. They should be here Wednesday. Since my size is 13 and I need a wide, it's a little hard to find decent walking shoes in a store, so I usually have to internet order stuff. Darn genetics.
Well, it seems I vanished again for another week. I didn't intend to, I was just busy again with various things and didn't feel like blogging. But another week, another empty promise to keep things going around here!
It does seem though, that my plateau thingy is on it's way out the door. I've started going down steadily again, slowly but it's moving in a downward direction. I've gone past 250 for the first time in a while which is a good feeling for me.
Since the weather is warming up I'm going to start doing more stuff outside. I need to get my bike down from my parents house and get it tuned up I think. It's been a while since I've used it and it could probably use some attention from a bike shop to make sure everything is running smoothly. I've also started doing some walking around the streets here which is a nice change of pace from being stuck indoors all the time.
So hopefully I'm back on track to keep losing. I haven't really set a goal weight for myself yet. Just...to weigh less.
Just a quick note before I get going here...yep, I'm still alive, but various things last week have either prevented me from having the time to blog about stuff or shouldn't really be mentioned in the first place. So I've been quiet for a bit. Hopefully this week I'll be able to get back to normal.
As you can see by the chart, my weight loss attempts haven't really gotten back to normal either. I'm still trending down slightly which is a good thing (I'm not going up at least!) but things have been pretty steady. for the past couple weeks.
It's another week of saying, oh well and hoping I get back on track. We'll see what next week brings.
As I mentioned last week, my progress with weight loss has been slowed a bit. Actually you could say it's been at a standstill. I've been fluctuating in the same area for about 2 weeks now, and it started about when I started feeling kinda blah about my life's situation at the moment, as well as when all of the school stuff hit me.
I'm trying to reverse the trend and keep things moving dowards, but I'm not having much success right now. Hopefully this week will be more downward trending since I'm not pushing nearly as hard with school related things.
My problem is that I'm finding it hard to motivate myself to do my exercising like I should be doing. I dunno if it's boredom or what. I'm finding riding the bike to be uncomfortable for longer periods of time which I think is part of the problem. I need to find a new thing to do when I don't feel like punching imaginary objects like a mental patient.
On the plus side though, I've dusted off some shirts that I haven't wore in quite some time and they're starting to fit me again. Very handy since I was running out of decent shirts to wear before I started doing this.
Onward and upward to next week I'd imagine. Hopefully it's better than this week was.
I've been switching up what I've been doing as far as exercise the past couple of weeks. Sometimes I'll ride the bike, other days I'll do a Tae Bo tape or something. Just to keep things different and so that my body's not getting used to one particular type of activity.
I'm expecting my first plateau to be shortly. I'm surprised I haven't really hit one as of yet. That's pretty unusual for me anyway.
I'm going to settle on an estimated 280 pounds being my starting point, which means that I'm coming up on my 25 pound marker soon. I actually passed it this morning but that was a pretty deep drop so I'm assuming right now that it's just a fluctuation.
This week it looks like my string of evenness during the week and drastic weekend drops has been broken, for now anyway. Also important to note is the fact that I managed to survive a dozen peanut butter cookies brought back from Pennsylvania by my Mom after she went down there for about a week last week.
I also survived getting a cold. Not really a bad one, just minor congestion and a sore throat, but it prevented me from exercising fully for a couple days there.
And since this concludes month 2 when I was keeping track...I present to you a summary of February
The thing I'm surprised about the most this week is the weekend. On Saturday I went out to Syracuse with my friends (which will be detailed in a forthcoming post) and we went out to dinner at Chili's. I threw caution to the wind and had a little more than what I would normally have had, along with 2 glasses of strawberry lemonade. But as it turns out that didn't matter very much.
And this morning I passed my 20 pound mark, dipping down below 260 for the first time in a couple years.
This was the week of the great flattening. I seemed to have plateaued for most of the week, for unknown reasons. Over the weekend I varied my routine a bit and it looks like that did the trick as I've started dropping again this week. Also important to note that during the flat part, my body fat % was dropping according to my maybe not quite so accurate scale. So maybe that was a good thing.
Anyway, I've started to work more fruits into my diet for snacking and stuff, trying to get more natural nutrients instead of processed foods. This makes grocery shopping more of a challenge, but I really want to start eating more healthily.
I am starting to notice a change in how my clothes are fitting, as well as my stomach and arms (hey, look, there's some muscles there now!) so visible progress makes the whole thing worth while.
